Smokey Bear/Woodsy Owl Poster Contest,  AFGC Chairman is Ronna Precure.

Contest open to 1st thru 5th graders, sponsored by a local garden club.  Submit only 1st Place Winners from your club to the State Chairman, postmarked by Jan. 15.  Size of poster is 11" X 17".  (Other sizes will be disqualified).  Poster must feature either Smokey or Woodsy (not both on the same poster).  Use appropriate slogan. 

In lower right corner on back of poster print the following:  Artist's name, artist or schools home address, home phone number, grade level, city, state, school, teacher & sponsoring Garden Club. (Dark markers bleed thru, be careful).  Use accurate color of clothing for Woodsy and Smokey.    

Bird Poster Contest... AFGC Chairman is Joan Clifford.  Contest open to grades 3-12.  Choose either the red-tailed hawk or the Painted bunting.

Deadline:  Feb. 1, 2012

8 and 1/2 inches by 11 inches to 11 X 14.  Complete rules are in the President's Directory.

Essay Contest...AFGC Chairman is Ava Partridge.  Contest open to 9th thru 12 graders.  (2011) - "The Benefits of Community Gardens".  (2012) - "Ways We Can Protect Aquatic Exosystems".  600-700 words.  Deadline for "The Benefits of Community Gardens" is Nov. 1st, 2011.

Poetry Contest... AFGC Chairman is Ava Partridge.  Open to K thru 9th graders.  (2011) - "Colorful Fruits" or "Tasty Vegetables"  (CHOOSE ONE).    (2012) - "Protecting Our Aquatic Friends".  Poems must be typed.  Poems do not have to rhyme.  Deadline is Dec. 1, 2011.

Youth Sculpture Contest (NEW).  Open to grades 4 thru 8.  AFGC Chairman is Ava Partridge.  Sculpture can be no more than 8 1/2 X 11 inches and should be made of recycled materials.  Height should be proportional to width.  Entries should include as many photos as can be printed on the back of the entry form, but two, 4" X 6" photos are recommended.  Deadline is Jan 1, 2012.  Complete rules in the President's Directory.
