Arkansas Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc.  

AFGC members met April 11-13, 2011,  for their 80th annual convention in Fort Smith, AR.  Executive Board Meeting members met at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.  Judges Council and Dinner (open to everyone) was on  Monday  evening at 7:00 p.m.  Those attending enjoyed the theme of the convention, "Where the New South meets the Old West".

125 members enjoyed tours of Fort Smith, an Award Brunch, and the several interesting programs.  

The AFGC 2012 convention will be held at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel in North Little Rock, March 28-29.  Details concerning registration will be posted on this site as soon as they are available. They will be printed in The Arkansas Gardener, also.

AFGC members met at the Crowne Plaza, in Little Rock, August 8 and 9, 2011, for the Mid-Year Board Meeting.  Attendees enjoyed the Judges Council Dinner on the 8th and a presentation, "Container Gardening", by Derenda Stanley.  On the 9th, members geared up for a new year and received the President's Packet which is most helpful to all clubs.  A power point presentation, by Lee Gershner, was enjoyed as the music and colorful flowers were outstanding.

The South Central Region Convention was held March 11-12, 2011, in Norman, OK.  Those in attendance enjoyed visiting with members of Oklahoma, New Mexico, Texas, and fellow Arkansas garden club members.   

Next year's SCR convention will be held in North Little Rock, AR,  March 30-31, 2012, at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel. Watch for details in the Arkansas Gardener and The Communicator.
